Who can apply?
You must meet all the criteria below before you submit an application.
- Grade 12, NQF Level 4, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the SAQA.
- Age between 18 and 35 years.
- Valid South African driver’s licence.
- No criminal record.
- No visible tattoos.
- Medical, mental and physical fitness for strenuous training.
- Not declared unfit to possess a firearm under the Firearm Control Act, 2000 (or similar legislation).
You also need good written and oral communication skills.

What happens after you apply?
The department will contact only shortlisted candidates. You will need to complete two pre‑entry assessments – one practical test and one integrity test – and undergo security clearance, qualification verification and a suitability check.
On the day of the interview, bring the medical certificate, certified qualification copies, ID copy and driver’s licence.
Closing date and feedback
