The City of Johannesburg is accepting applications for two Social Development internships, and the deadline is fast approaching – you have until Thursday, 20 August 2026 to apply.
What the opportunity is
The municipality is offering two 18‑month internships in the Social Development Department. Both placements are based at the Traduna Building and pay a basic salary of R10 109.86 per month. No additional benefits are provided. The intake is covered by Student Internship Circular 022/2026 and falls under the Food Resilience Unit and the Targeted Beneficiaries Unit.
Who can apply
These internships are open only to residents of the City of Johannesburg who have never taken part in a related internship (unless the previous placement was unrelated to the current field of study). Applicants must have at least a Grade 12 qualification or NQF Level 4, plus a completed diploma or degree with a minimum of 360 credits in the appropriate field.
Food Value Chain internship – eligibility
- Completed qualification (360+ credits) in Agriculture Studies, Development Studies or an equivalent field.
- Grade 12 or NQF Level 4.
- Residence within Johannesburg.
Women and Elderly internship – eligibility
- Completed qualification (360+ credits) in a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences, Developmental Studies, or Gender Studies (NQF Level 7).
- Grade 12 or NQF Level 4.
- Residence within Johannesburg.
