Need real work experience right now? The Bela-Bela Municipality Electrical Graduate Internship 2026 offers four unemployed electrical graduates a paid 12‑month placement to help with energy‑efficiency projects.
What the internship is
This is a graduate programme run by Bela‑Bela Local Municipality together with the Department of Energy and Electricity. It sits in the Technical Services – Electrical Division and is part of the Energy Efficiency Demand Side Programme Grant Graduates Programme (Notice No. 93/26).

Who can apply (eligibility)
You must be an unemployed graduate with an electrical background. Minimum requirements are:
- Grade 12
- N3 Electrical Certificate
- Valid South African driver’s licence
- At least three months of related work experience
- Willingness to sign an internship or graduate‑programme agreement
A Project Management Certificate is a plus, but not mandatory.
What you will gain
The placement gives you hands‑on experience in municipal energy‑efficiency work. You will learn about:
- Public lighting systems (street lights, high‑mast lights, traffic lights)
- Building energy‑efficiency technologies
- HVAC, water heating and building‑management systems
- Data collection, project tracking and reporting
- How a municipality plans, monitors and delivers projects
In addition to the stipend, you will build a professional network and boost your CV with practical municipal experience.
How to apply – step by step

- Attach a detailed CV.

- Hand‑deliver the complete package to the Records Office at the address above before the deadline.
Tips to improve your chances
- Do not skip the motivational letter – applications without it will be rejected.
- Keep your letter specific. Mention the N3 certificate, driver’s licence, any project work, and why energy efficiency matters to you.
