Right now, South Africa’s push for skills development means companies are looking for experts who can sell learnerships and ICT training. Avatar Human Capital is hiring a Skills Development Sales Executive for a technology institution, offering a basic salary of R30 000–R35 000 per month plus commission.
What the role involves
This is a permanent, full‑time sales position. You will grow the institution’s national footprint by finding new corporate, enterprise and public‑sector clients and selling accredited learnerships, ICT training, certifications and workforce‑development solutions.
The job is not a learner programme – you will be the salesperson, not the trainee.
Who can apply
You need at least 3 years of proven sales experience in one or more of these areas:
- Skills Development / Learnerships
- ICT Training or technology solutions
- Corporate or public‑sector training
- B‑BBEE consulting or workforce development
A Diploma or Degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, HR, Training or a related field is preferred, but strong sales results matter more than the qualification.
You should understand South Africa’s skills‑development landscape, including learnership programmes, SETA funding, the B‑BBEE Skills Development Scorecard and ICT certification pathways.
Technical abilities that help include using a CRM, Microsoft Office, creating proposals and presentations, forecasting sales and managing a pipeline.
Key personal competencies: clear communication, persuasive presentation, negotiation, closing deals, relationship building, resilience, self‑motivation, business acumen and good time management.
Having an existing network with corporate learning managers, HR executives, or public‑sector transformation officers will give you an extra edge.
What you will gain
- Basic salary: R30 000 – R35 000 per month
- Commission: 2.5 % of revenue you generate
- Annual revenue target of roughly R11 million
- Potential for rapid career growth if you meet targets
- National travel opportunities to meet clients
The role offers a strong commercial challenge and the chance to earn a high income while supporting South African workforce development.
How to apply
- Update your CV. Highlight sales figures, revenue generated, targets met, new clients won and any experience with learnerships, SETA funding or B‑BBEE skills development.
- Ensure your contact details are correct and the document is easy to scan.
- Submit your application through the official portal: PNet – Skills Development Sales Executive.
- Apply as soon as possible; no closing date is listed.
Tips to improve your chances
- Show measurable results: exact revenue numbers, percentage of target achieved, size of contracts.
- Include any contacts you have with corporate learning managers, HR heads or public‑sector transformation teams.
- Use action verbs – “secured”, “negotiated”, “closed” – and avoid vague duties.
- Proofread for spelling and formatting errors; a clean CV makes a professional impression.
- Prepare a short cover note that explains why you understand the South African skills‑development environment and how you will meet the R11 million target.
Next steps
If you have a solid sales track record and know the learnership and ICT training market, this role could be a significant step forward in your career. Update your CV, follow the application steps above, and take the chance to join a fast‑growing technology institution that values both commercial success and skills development.
