What the internship is
The Electrical Engineering Graduate Internship Programme 2026–2028 is a two‑year paid placement. It is designed for graduates who have a NQF Level 7 or Level 8 Electrical Engineering qualification but little or no workplace experience. Interns will work within the city’s electricity distribution network and learn how municipal power services operate.
Who can apply
To be eligible you must meet every point below:
- South African citizen with a valid ID document
- Unemployed when you submit your application
- Younger than 35 years old
- Holder of an NQF Level 7 or Level 8 Electrical Engineering qualification from a recognised South African university
- Academically eligible for registration with the relevant professional engineering council
- Available for the full 24‑month programme
- Able to provide all required supporting documents (see below)
