If you want a hands‑on technical career right now, Epiroc’s 2026 Apprenticeship Programme could be your gateway into engineering and service technology.
What the apprenticeship is
Epiroc will take 8 learners into its Equipment & Service division. The apprentices will work in the Rebuild department, learning to maintain and rebuild mining and construction equipment. The programme runs for a full year and combines classroom‑style training with real workshop work.
Who can apply
You must have a National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) with at least:
- English plus another language
- Mathematics (Pure or Technical)
- Science
- Two other subjects
Additional study in Engineering Graphics, Engineering Drawing or a Mechanical/Electrical Engineering diploma is a plus but not mandatory.
Technical schooling must include at least an N2 qualification covering Fitting Theory and Electrical Theory. Basic electronics knowledge is helpful. You must be 18 years or older.
Benefits and skills you’ll gain
During the year you will:
- Assist with equipment maintenance and rebuild projects
- Learn from experienced mentors and supervisors
- Take part in formal training sessions and workshops
- Develop record‑keeping and reporting skills
- Improve health‑ and safety awareness on the shop floor
The mix of theory and practice will turn classroom knowledge into workplace confidence.
How to apply – step by step
- Gather your documents: NSC certificate, N2 transcript, ID, and a CV that highlights technical subjects and any workshop experience.
- Visit the official online application portal.
- Read the job advert carefully and fill in the online form.
- Upload your documents and submit before the closing date.
- If you are shortlisted, you will be asked to complete written and practical assessments.
Remember the deadline is 30 June 2026. Applying early gives you time to fix any issues.
Tips to improve your chances
- Refresh your CV so it clearly lists mathematics, science, N2 modules and any hands‑on projects.
- Write a short cover letter that explains why you enjoy technical problem‑solving.
- Practice basic fitting or electrical theory – you may be tested on these topics.
- Show that you can work safely and follow instructions; mention any safety training you have.
- Highlight soft skills: good communication, teamwork, willingness to learn.
Many applicants worry they lack experience. Even a school workshop project or a hobby in fixing things can count as relevant exposure.
Why consider this apprenticeship
The programme offers a structured path into a trade‑focused career without the need for a full university degree. You will earn a salary while you learn, and you will have a mentor to guide you through each task. Completing the apprenticeship often leads to permanent roles within Epiroc or similar companies.
Next steps
Check the requirements, update your CV, and submit your application before 30 June 2026. If you meet the criteria, this could be the first step towards a long‑term career in engineering and equipment service.
