GPF Internships 2026: R8,098 a Month, Apply by 4 November

The Gauteng Partnership Fund (GPF) has opened 10 internship places for unemployed Gauteng graduates, and applications close on Wednesday, 4 November 2026. Each intern earns R8,098 per month for 24 months. With only 10 posts on offer, competition will be tough, so check the rules before you start. One condition catches many TVET graduates: you must already have completed your Work Integrated Learning (WIL). Keep this guide to the GPF internships 2026 open as you prepare your application.

What is the GPF internship programme about?

The Gauteng Partnership Fund is hiring interns in Johannesburg, Gauteng. The 24-month programme is funded by the Public Service Sector Education and Training Authority (PSETA). It offers contract roles for students and graduates who have finished their studies but have no work experience yet.

  • Employer: Gauteng Partnership Fund (GPF)
  • Funding partner: Public Service Sector Education and Training Authority (PSETA)
  • Places: 10 internship posts across nine fields
  • Location: Johannesburg, Gauteng
  • Duration and pay: 24 months at R8,098.00 per month
  • Who qualifies: unemployed South Africans aged 18 to 35 who live in Gauteng, hold a completed relevant Diploma or Degree, and have no prior work experience
  • TVET requirement: completed WIL component
  • Closing date: Wednesday, 4 November 2026 (no cutoff time given)
  • How to apply: through GPF’s designated online application portal

Which internship matches your qualification?

Every field needs a relevant, fully completed Diploma or Degree. Internal Audit has two posts. Each of the other eight fields has one. Use the reference numbers to find the right role in the portal.

Finance department:

  • Financial Management – 1 post – Reference FMI-01/2026
  • Supply Chain Management – 1 post – Reference SCMI-02/2026

Corporate Services department:

  • Human Resource Management / Human Capital Management – 1 post – Reference HCMI-03/2026
  • Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Management – 1 post – Reference ICTI-04/2026
  • Law (Legal) – 1 post – Reference LI-06/2026
  • Marketing Management – 1 post – Reference MMI-07/2026

Office of the CEO:

  • Internal Audit Management – 2 posts – Reference IAMI-05/2026
  • Risk Management – 1 post – Reference RMI-08/2026
  • Strategic Management – 1 post – Reference SMI-09/2026

Two naming notes before you apply. The HR role appears as Human Capital Management Internship in the portal. The Strategic Management listing is spelled “Stratergic Management Internship”, so use reference SMI-09/2026 to confirm it.

Who can apply?

You must meet every condition listed below:

  • You are unemployed.
  • You are a South African citizen.
  • You are between 18 and 35 years old.
  • You live in Gauteng Province.
  • You have fully completed a relevant Diploma or Degree in the field you choose.
  • You have no prior work experience.
  • If you studied at a TVET college, you have already completed the Work Integrated Learning (WIL) component.

Matric alone does not meet the qualification requirement. A qualification still in progress does not count either. Wanting to move to Gauteng does not replace the residence rule. You must already live there.

The TVET WIL rule, explained

Many TVET graduates hope this programme can serve as their WIL placement. It cannot. You must have finished WIL already and be able to show proof. This intake is not a placement to obtain the WIL you still need.

There is also a grey area worth knowing about. The programme requires no prior work experience, but GPF has not explained how completed WIL fits under that rule. Describe your WIL and any jobs honestly. If your history leaves you unsure, contact GPF and ask before you apply.

What will you gain from this programme?

What you will earn

The stipend is R8,098.00 per month for the full 24-month, PSETA-funded programme. Exact start and end dates have not been published, so do not read the “2026/2028 intake” wording as a confirmed start date.

Be realistic about what follows. The programme does not promise a permanent job after completion. Working hours, transport, accommodation and extra benefits are not stated either. Confirm these arrangements with GPF before you accept any offer.

What you will learn

You will get real workplace exposure in your field of study, grouped across Finance, Corporate Services and the Office of the CEO.

  • Financial Management: Help with financial administration, budgets, spending checks, financial reports, reconciliations and records. The work supports financial controls and accurate information.
  • Supply Chain Management: Support procurement administration, supplier management, purchasing, contract administration and supply chain records. You will learn to follow fair, transparent and cost-effective procurement procedures.
  • Human Capital Management: Get exposure to recruitment and selection, employee records, performance management, training and development, employee wellness and general HR administration.
  • ICT Management: Build skills in ICT and user support, systems administration, IT asset management, troubleshooting and information security while helping deliver reliable technology services.
  • Internal Audit Management: Support audit planning, evidence collection, reporting and documentation. The work includes risk assessments, internal controls, compliance reviews and tracking corrective actions.
  • Law (Legal): Assist with legal research, contract administration, legal documents and legislative compliance. You will review documents, keep legal records and research matters relevant to GPF’s operations and governance.
  • Marketing Management: Support marketing administration, corporate communications, content development, digital marketing, social media and events. You will help promote GPF’s brand, programmes and projects.
  • Risk Management: Learn enterprise risk management, risk identification and assessment, risk register administration, internal controls and risk reporting. You will help monitor mitigation actions.
  • Strategic Management: Support strategic and business planning, performance monitoring, research, data analysis and management reports. You will help track strategic initiatives and performance indicators.

Which documents should you prepare?

Get these ready before you touch the form. It makes the process far less stressful.

  • An updated CV.
  • A certified copy of your South African ID.
  • Your certified qualification and academic transcript.
  • Proof that you live in Gauteng.
  • Evidence of your completed TVET WIL, if it applies to you.

Keep every document clear, readable and consistent with the details you type into the online form. No certification-age limit or Z83 form is required for this programme.

How to apply for GPF internships 2026

  1. Open the official GPF internship application portal.
  2. Find the field that matches your completed qualification. Use the reference numbers above. Select Read More to check the role, then Apply Now.
  3. Enter your name, surname, email address, telephone number and ID number. Complete the gender, ethnicity, disability and nationality selections on the form.
  4. Enter your highest relevant qualification and any other qualifications. Fill in the current and previous employer/position fields, employment status and years of experience truthfully. Never invent work history to fill a blank.
  5. Upload your documents. The form has upload areas labelled CV, Picture and Copy of Qualification, and each file can be a maximum of 4 MB. A photograph is not part of the eligibility criteria, so simply follow the instructions and validation messages for your chosen role.
  6. Make sure your ID, academic transcript, residence proof and WIL evidence are included wherever the form allows or requests supporting documents. If there is no suitable upload option, ask GPF for guidance before submitting an incomplete application.
  7. Read the privacy information and application terms linked in the form. Complete the consent and agreement selections only if you accept them.
  8. Check your role reference, contact details, qualification information and attachments. Click Submit before the 4 November 2026 deadline and keep any confirmation or reference number you receive.

Only applications sent through this designated link will be considered. There is no alternative email address or hand-delivery option for this intake. Remember that partly completing the form does not mean you have applied.

Tips to improve your chances

With only 10 places, small mistakes can cost you. Many applicants lose out not because of their marks, but because of upload errors or missing documents. These steps will help you avoid that:

  • Apply early. Submitting before the final days gives you time to fix upload problems without panic.
  • Match the field exactly. Apply only for the field your completed qualification covers, and double-check the reference number.
  • Tailor your CV. Choose an academic example that connects to the role. A finance graduate could describe reconciling figures in a coursework project. A marketing graduate could explain their part in a student campaign.
  • Stay truthful. Describe your WIL and any employment accurately. Incorrect information can disqualify you.
  • Watch for scams. Never pay anyone an application, interview or placement fee. Use only GPF’s designated portal, and protect your ID and qualification documents from unofficial recruiters.

Supply chain graduates comparing options can also look at the Cubix Operations and Supply Chain Management Internship. Check its own location, study and funding-history requirements first.

Final thoughts and your next steps

This is a solid chance for an unemployed Gauteng graduate to gain 24 months of paid workplace experience in a real organisation. Ten places is a small number, but every year some applicants succeed because their documents were ready and their information was accurate.

Here is what to do today. Confirm you meet every requirement. Gather and certify your documents. Then start your application on the official portal and submit it well before 4 November 2026. Keep your confirmation safe, and check your email and phone regularly. Good luck.
