If you have a diploma or degree but no work experience, you know how frustrating job hunting can feel. Right now, that can change. The Limpopo Public Works Graduate Internship Programme 2027–2029 is open, with 60 paid positions for unemployed South African graduates. But applications close on 6 November 2026 at 16:30, and small mistakes, like choosing the wrong reference number, can get your form rejected before anyone even reads it.
What Is the Limpopo Public Works Graduate Internship?
The Limpopo Department of Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure wants to hire 60 unemployed graduates. Each person will work for 24 months, from 1 April 2027 to 31 March 2029.
You will earn R8,174.75 per month while you learn how government builds and manages roads, buildings and property.
Positions are spread across the Head Office and five districts: Capricorn, Mopani, Sekhukhune, Vhembe and Waterberg.
- Positions: 60
- References: 18
- Stipend: R8,174.75 monthly
- Duration: 24 months

- End: 31 March 2029

Important: This is a graduate internship. Matric alone does not qualify you for these posts.
Who Can Apply?
Many graduates worry they will waste time applying when they do not qualify. Check this list carefully before you start.
You must:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Be currently unemployed.
- Hold the National Diploma or Degree asked for in the post.
- Need practical workplace experience.
- Never have done a Public Service Graduate Internship in any government department before.
- Be available for the full 24 months.
- Meet the specific requirements of the post you choose.
Women and persons living with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
The notice speaks about unemployed South African youth, but it does not state a specific age limit. If you are unsure whether you qualify, phone the Department before you submit anything.
What Will You Gain From This Programme?
You get two full years of real workplace experience in the public sector. That is something employers ask for, and many graduates struggle to get.
Depending on your field, you could learn about infrastructure projects, road maintenance, property management, mapping and spatial data, or building and construction work.
Let us be honest with you: completing the programme does not guarantee a permanent job. The Department also does not pay for your transport, accommodation or meals when you attend interviews. But the experience itself becomes proof that you can do the work, and that helps in every future application.
Which Internship Matches Your Qualification?
The 60 posts fall under three fields. Each field has 20 positions across six locations. Match your qualification to the right reference number before you apply.
Properties and Facilities — 20 Positions
These posts suit graduates in Real Estate, Property Studies, Property Management, Property Science, GIS, Horticulture and similar fields.

How to Apply Step by Step
Decide on your submission method first, because the document rules are different. Online applications need more documents than physical ones.
Option 1: Apply Online
The Department uses the official Limpopo Provincial Government eRecruitment site: https://erecruitment.limpopo.gov.za
- Open the recruitment website.
- Register or sign in to your profile.
- Find the Graduate Internship Programme 2027–2029.
- Select the post that matches your qualification.
- Double-check the reference number.
- Fill in your personal and education details.
- Upload the required documents.
- Check everything, then submit.
- Save any confirmation the system gives you.
Online applicants must upload:
- A completed new Z83 form.
- A recent, comprehensive CV.
- Copies of your qualifications.
- A copy of your South African ID.
- A copy of your driver’s licence.
About the driver’s licence: the general online instructions mention it, but the individual posts do not list one as a requirement. If you do not have a licence, ask the Department whether it is compulsory for your chosen post. Do not assume you are excluded.
Option 2: Hand Delivery or Post
For your first physical submission, you only need:
- A completed and signed 2021 Z83 form.
- A recent, comprehensive CV.
You do not need certified qualifications or other documents at this stage. Only shortlisted candidates will be asked for certified copies later.
You can download the official form here: Download the New Z83 Form from the DPSA

Use the office linked to the post you chose, and confirm the address before you travel.

Closing date: 6 November 2026 at 16:30. If you post your documents, they must arrive before the deadline. Posting on time does not guarantee they arrive on time.
Tips to Improve Your Chances
Every year, good candidates lose out because of avoidable errors. Here is what to watch for.
- Choose the right reference. There are 18 references. Pick the one that matches both your qualification and your preferred location.
- Use the correct Z83. It must be the version effective from January 2021, signed and initialled where required.
- Match documents to your method. Online needs qualifications and ID. Physical submissions need only the Z83 and CV at first.
- Check the exact qualification wording. The Head Office Roads post, for example, wants a B.Eng. in Civil Engineering specifically.
- Be a first-time intern. If you have already done a Public Service Graduate Internship, you cannot apply. Done other training before? Ask the Department if it counts.
- Start early. Give yourself time to complete the Z83, gather documents and fix any portal problems before 16:30 on 6 November 2026.
What Happens After You Apply?
The Department will check every submission against the advertised requirements.
Shortlisted candidates may face interviews, technical assessments and integrity assessments. The Department may also run security checks and verify your qualifications.
If you studied outside South Africa, you must have your qualification evaluated by SAQA yourself.
Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. If you hear nothing within three months after the closing date, treat your application as unsuccessful.
Who Can You Contact for Help?
