Ready to start a career in shipping before you turn 25? Mediterranean Shipping Company’s 2026 Learnership is now open for young South Africans in Durban and Cape Town, and the deadline is fast approaching.
What the learnership offers
MSC runs a 12‑month training programme that combines classroom study with on‑the‑job experience. The learnership is divided into three phases, each lasting a year:
- National Certificate in International Trade – basic principles of cross‑border trade.
- National Certificate in Freight Forwarding and Customs Compliance – how cargo moves and how customs works.
- Further Education and Training Certificate in Shipping – in‑depth look at the shipping industry.
After each phase you receive a nationally recognised qualification and hands‑on workplace experience.
Who can apply
You must meet all of the following:
- Age under 25.
- Matric (Grade 12) with at least a C aggregate.
- Mathematics as a Matric subject.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office – especially Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Strong communication skills.
- Any work, volunteer or internship experience that shows reliability.
- A hardworking, methodical attitude.
The advert does not set a minimum amount of work experience, so include any role that demonstrates responsibility.
What you will gain
