NMISA Internships 2026 for Graduates: How to Apply Before 04 June

If you graduated recently but still cannot find work because every employer wants experience, you are not alone. The NMISA Internships 2026 programme closes on 04 June 2026. This gives you 24 months of paid workplace training in Pretoria, plus a monthly stipend between R6,758 and R8,878.

What is this opportunity?

The National Metrology Institute of South Africa (NMISA) runs this internship to help unemployed graduates bridge the gap between university and work. You will work inside a respected public entity for two full years.

You do not need any previous work experience. You only need the right qualification and a willingness to learn. The programme includes mentorship, hands-on tasks, and structured training in four different departments.

Who can apply?

You must be an unemployed South African graduate. NMISA has openings in four areas. Each has specific qualification rules.

1. Outbound Logistics and Administration

This suits you if you enjoy organizing, planning, and supporting teams behind the scenes.

You need:

  • Grade 12
  • Degree or Advanced Diploma in Business Administration or Logistics Management
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Good communication and organizational habits

A postgraduate qualification will put you ahead of other candidates. You will help with financial administration, procurement, sourcing quotations, monitoring spending, logistics coordination, inventory systems, shipping documents, records, and customer service.

2. Legal and Compliance

This is for law graduates who want to work in governance, contracts, or regulatory affairs.

You need:

  • BProc Degree or LLB Degree or an equivalent NQF Level 8 legal qualification

You do not need work experience. Knowledge of the PFMA, POPIA, PAIA, Companies Act, and King IV Principles will help you. You will draft legal documents, research cases, vet contracts, prepare court files, support audits, and help develop policies.

3. Analytical Chemistry

This fits science graduates who want real laboratory hours.

You need:

  • Advanced Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, or a related scientific field

If you have a postgraduate qualification, Good Laboratory Practice knowledge, or any lab experience from your studies, mention this clearly. You will conduct laboratory testing, chemical analysis, sample and reagent preparation, equipment operation and calibration, quality management, inventory, and research support.

4. Information Technology (Two positions available)

This is for tech graduates who enjoy data, networks, and Business Intelligence.

You need:

  • Degree or Advanced Diploma at NQF Level 7 in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Management, or a related field

Certifications like CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, or Microsoft Azure will strengthen your application. You should understand data analysis, Business Intelligence, dashboard development, computer networks, Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office, and object-oriented programming.

You will develop Power BI dashboards, run data analysis projects, support networks and servers, administer Microsoft Active Directory and Dynamics 365, manage SharePoint, troubleshoot hardware, maintain software, and update endpoint security.

What you will gain

Many South African graduates send hundreds of CVs without replies because they lack workplace exposure. This programme solves that problem.

For 24 months, you will receive:

  • A monthly stipend ranging from R6,758 to R8,878
  • Real tasks that build your CV
  • Mentorship from experienced professionals
  • Professional networking inside a public entity
  • Confidence through daily workplace practice

When you finish, you leave with proven experience, not just a certificate.

How to apply

Applications close on 04 June 2026. Do not wait until the last day. Email your documents to careers@nmisa.org.

Step-by-step process:

<

  1. Choose only one internship that matches your qualification exactly.
  2. Update your CV. Save it as a PDF only.
  3. Certify your ID copy and all your qualifications.
  4. Write a clear email subject line that states the exact internship title.
  5. Attach your PDF CV and certified documents.
  6. Double-check that your contact details are correct.
  7. Send the email before the deadline.

Incomplete applications or Word documents instead of PDFs may be removed from the shortlist. Open every file before you send to make sure nothing is corrupted.

Tips to improve your chances

Competition is high. Many applicants send the same generic CV to every internship. Do not do this.

Adjust your CV profile to match the specific internship you chose. If you apply for Logistics, highlight your Excel skills and organization examples. If you apply for IT, list your certifications and technical projects first.

Read the requirements list again before you submit. Missing one document or sending a blurry scan can cost you the opportunity.
