What the learnership offers

This is a 12‑month paid learnership with the Fire & Rescue Services of Stellenbosch Municipality. You will earn between R174 899.90 and R227 049.79 while you learn on‑the‑job.

It gives you hands‑on experience in firefighting, rescue, basic medical aid, fire prevention and station duties, all under qualified supervision.

Who can apply

You must meet every requirement before you submit your documents.

  • Grade 12 (Matric) certificate
  • Proof of successful completion of a Fire Fighter 1 course
  • Medical, physical and mental fitness for emergency work
  • No criminal record
  • Proof of residence in the Stellenbosch municipal area (affidavit if required)
  • Preference is given to local residents who can stay in the area for the full 12 months

A valid Code B driver’s licence is an advantage, not a replacement for the core criteria.
