What is the opportunity?
KMR is offering three weeks of free training in private security. The course covers Grades E, D and C, which are the entry‑level qualifications needed to work as a security officer. The training is held in the Northern Cape.
There is no stipend attached, so you must cover your own travel, meals and any accommodation unless KMR advises otherwise during selection.
Who can apply?
To be eligible you must:
- Be unemployed when you apply.
- Hold a Grade 12 certificate.
- Have a valid South African ID and driver’s licence.
- Live in the John Taolo Gaetsewe District Municipality or Joe Morolong Local Municipality.
- Speak, read and write English well enough for workplace communication.
- Be physically fit for security duties.
- Have no criminal record.
- Show genuine interest in a security career.

- Remember: completing the training does not guarantee a job or automatic PSIRA registration. You will still need to meet the regulator’s requirements.
What could happen after you finish the training?
If KMR finds you meet the criteria, you may be called for further verification, a physical fitness test, background checks, and an interview. Only shortlisted candidates will receive further communication. If you hear nothing after the selection period, consider your application unsuccessful.
Graduates often move into roles such as security officer, access control officer, patrol officer, gate guard, reception security, loss prevention, industrial security, event security or corporate security. Employers may ask for additional experience, specialised training, or a valid PSIRA registration.

Kudumane Manganese Mine is situated near Hotazel and about 60 km from Kuruman in the John Taolo Gaetsewe District. The company wants to help local communities gain skills that can lead to jobs, especially for those who are currently unemployed.
By providing free Grades E, D and C training, KMR hopes to create a pipeline of qualified people who can later register with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority and fill entry‑level security positions.
