What is the learnership?
The 2027 Engineering Learnership combines classroom training with hands‑on work at Valterra Platinum’s Amandelbult site in Limpopo, between Northam and Thabazimbi. Successful learners will earn a nationally recognised artisan qualification while getting real mining experience.
Who can apply?
You must meet the following minimum criteria:
- Matric (Grade 12) with Mathematics, Physical Science and English – at least 40 % in each subject.
- Either an N2 (or higher) engineering qualification that includes the required subjects for your chosen trade, or a National Certificate Vocational (NCV) Level 4 in a relevant trade.
- All subject results must be 40 % or higher.
- If you live in the host‑community around Amandelbult, you will be given first preference, but you still need to meet the academic requirements. You must provide a stamped proof of residence from the tribal office or local municipality.

The 19 places are spread across nine artisan disciplines:
- Electrician – 2 positions
- Boilermaker – 3 positions
- Mechanical Fitter – 4 positions
- Diesel Mechanic – 2 positions
- Heavy‑Equipment Mechanic – 2 positions
